Flashbacks ...

Hi tweakers

When shopping with my daughter last week it was a sweet revival for me.  One could be forgiven for thinking we were back in the 80's with playsuits, jumpsuits, one shoulder tops, dropped sleeves, boxy shapes, cut off tops, boat necks, leggings and lots of lace.  I have to confess playsuits, jumpsuits, leggings and cut off tops are no longer my bag - but the KNITWEAR oooh love it!!  The baggy, casual 'thrown together' look, perfect for my studentesque life.

I have got a fair collection of eighties knitwear patterns, I thoughtlessly discarded some a few years back -to my regret.

I found this the other day in a charity shop:

I haven't had much success finding crochet 80's patterns so I guess it is my cue to design my own.
Meet  Rio.

I wanted a 'sloppy Joe' casual sweater for later in the year when I go back to Uni.  Rio was made from Katia 'Diana' (approximate aran/worsted weight) from my stash.

It incorporates the 'eighties' boat neck, boxy shape, dropped sleeve.

Black buttons add interest to sleeve and welt.
Main body in shells, shoulder panels in dc (sc). Ribbed welt worked in back loop only.

Simple boat neck, front and back identical.

Voila - she may be too warm for 'dances on the sand' but she would keep the chills out for an evening walk on the beach, over a blouse or t-shirt.

Bye for now tweakers
love Catherine x
